West Orange Woman Arrested for DWI in Hoboken

West Orange NJ DWI LawyerOfficers from the Hoboken Police Department recently arrested a West Orange woman on charges for driving while intoxicated (DWI) after she reportedly parked her car on a local side walk.

According to Sergeant Edgardo Cruz of the Hoboken Police Department, officers arrested 21-year-old West Orange resident Cindy Ardon just prior to 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 13th. The officers were called to a CVS located on Washington Street due to a white Acura that was parked on the sidewalk in front of the building.

After observing a woman allegedly stumbling toward the car, the officers engaged with her, claiming that she was swaying from side to side and that her breath smelled of alcohol. The woman, later identified as Cindy Ardon, the driver of the car, admitted to the officers that she had parked on the sidewalk.

Ms. Ardon was taken into custody and charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI) and reckless driving. If this is Ms. Ardon’s first DWI offense, her blood alcohol content will have a significant impact on the severity of the penalties imposed if she is ultimately found guilty.

In New Jersey, first offenses for DWI are broken-down into two tiers: drivers with a BAC ranging from 0.08% (the legal limit) to 0.1%, and drivers with a BAC that exceeds 0.1%. The penalties for a lower tier offense include driver’s license suspension for a period of 3 months, a fine ranging from $250 to $400, and a sentence to serve up to 30 days in the county jail. Higher tier offenses are punishable by suspension of driving privileges for between 7 months and 1 year, a fine ranging from $300 to $500, and a 30-day jail sentence.
